Choosing Life is not Locked Down

"This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." (Deuteronomy 30:19)
“God gives us wisdom about what to do, what not to do. Everyone is tired, times are hard, women are afraid, and there are increased needs,” says Luba Abramov, director of Choose Life Women’s Center. Navigating unforeseen challenges brought about by COVID-19 is taking a significant toll on women across the globe. Luba, like so many others, is working inside the “new normal” to continue meeting vital and urgent needs of women in difficult situations who seek help at Choose Life.

Before the required lockdown and “sheltering at home”, Luba and her staff of volunteers offered counseling, abstinence education, childbirth preparation and parenting classes, Bible studies, monthly club meeting for new moms, and much needed humanitarian aid. Amid the new rules of the pandemic, ministry looks very different and Luba has had to adapt to continue helping women.
Connections are made by phone, online, and (with great caution) one-on-one. Even now that the center has reopened, precautions are being taken as they return to meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of pregnant women and new moms in their city. In spite of the pandemic, Choose Life is seeing new contacts being made. Women are coming for help because they often cannot find care anywhere else, and many are alone in their pregnancy journey.
Luba and her staff want women to know they're not alone. At the Center, they offer food, diapers, clothing, and classes.
“But,” Luba says, “our greatest desire and prayer is that every woman we serve would find and receive God’s love, forgiveness, and the gift of eternal life.”
