Eastern Tamang (Nepal)

Background
The Eastern Tamang are a large group in Nepal of nearly 1.5 million people. They are 83% Buddhist, but this is a very syncretistic form of Tibetan Buddhism that incorporates elements of Hinduism and animist superstitions.
It is reported that there are “Christians” among them, but the number that are actually “evangelical” is a very small, but very well organized and highly motivated, group. This group has translated a Gospel booklet into the Eastern Tamang language. Two thousand copies were printed in December, and distribution for “community testing” has begun.

The Opportunity
The Eastern Tamang have a New Testament and several evangelistic tools such as the "Jesus Film." The Christian minority believe they are well positioned to take the Gospel to their people group.
We have an opportunity to partner with an association of Eastern Tamang evangelical Christians for organized distribution of the Gospel booklet that will lead to establishing Bible study groups and then planting churches.
You, your church, or your small group can be involved in prayer support, financial support for printing, and financial support for distribution of the Gospel booklet to help these believers reach over a million Eastern Tamang people in Nepal.
