The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Live Global is all about everyone everywhere understanding the good news of the gospel. The good news is that a Holy God loved the world enough to send Jesus to rescue those who believe from their sin.

Who Is God?

The good news of the gospel begins with understanding who God is. God—the Creator of the universe—is all powerful, all knowing, filled with love, and above all—holy. His holiness means that He is perfect and loves what is good, and will justly punish any wrongdoing and sin.

I am the LORD, your Holy One, The Creator of Israel, your King. (Isaiah 43:15)

Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, and You cannot look on wickedness with favor. (Habakkuk 1:13)

Sin is breaking God's law (for example, the 10 Commandments). Every lie we've told, every selfish thought we've had, and every sin is known by God, deserves punishment, brings us shame and in some cases, causes fear.

God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready. (Psalm 7:11-12)

Every person has sinned and thus everyone is guilty before God and responsible for the shame and fear we've brought on ourselves. Yet we can't do anything ourselves to make us clean or innocent again. God, in His holiness, must punish sin. He must punish us.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

God Requires Payment for Sin

The great dilemma is that God cannot just forgive sin without a payment for it. He cannot just pretend that it never happened. Just like a fair judge cannot let guilty people go free, God cannot just let sinners go free without punishment.

He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD. (Proverbs 17:15)

Motivated by love, and because of His great mercy, God chose to not give every man what we deserve (death). Instead, He made a way for our rescue. The solution is that God's son Jesus (who is completely God) came to earth as a man in order to live a perfect life in our place. He never sinned, but then died the death He didn't deserve on the cross, absorbing the wrath of God, and took our punishment for us.

God is love. By this the love of God is manifested in us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the wrath absorbing sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:8-10)

Who Is Jesus?

When God's son Jesus died on the cross, God poured his just wrath and anger out on Jesus, so that He wouldn't pour it out on you and me. But Jesus didn't stay dead! As evidence that He was God, and proof that His death was enough for our Salvation, He rose from the dead! There is great hope, because Jesus took our place and lives again.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified [declared just] as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a wrath absorbing sacrifice in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:23-26)

He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification. (Romans 4:25)

To anyone who will believe, God will fully forgive their sin and guilt. He will cover their shame, remove their fear, and give them a new heart. Guaranteed to all believers is a new heart (to live differently), confidence of joy, and a promise of eternal life with God instead of in hell. This new life in Christ allows every believer victory in fighting sin and hope in death.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

How to Respond to the Gospel

God commands everyone everywhere to repent (turn away) from their sin and follow Him. You must believe the good news of the Gospel today! There is hope and freedom in Jesus!

In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. (Acts 17:30)

Pray to God. Confess your sin to Him and ask Him to save you. He will not reject anyone who comes to Him.

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak and blameless when You judge. (Psalm 51:3-4)

Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)

Following Jesus means that we are completely dependent on His death and resurrection—nothing else is needed for our Salvation. But, it also means that we now live to love and obey God. There is nothing greater.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)

The Gospel changes the worst of men, and has saved countless people for thousands of years. It is why Live Global exists, and we would love to talk more about it with you. If you have just believed the gospel, or would like to talk more, please contact us. There would be nothing we enjoy more than talking about the gospel with you.

"The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope."

- Tim Keller
