Business As Mission, or BAM, has been around since Paul was making tents. We partner with national Christians to help them develop businesses for evangelism. Instead of something that takes time and attention away from ministry, we think business can be one of the most effective ways of doing ministry. God has given everyone the skills, giftings, and resources in order to be successful; the goal of BAM is to come alongside entrepreneurs and help identify the opportunities He has placed around them. Jesus Christ has dominion over all things – that includes business! When we use business to glorify God, the things we do not only have economic impacts today, but make impacts that will reverberate into eternity!
The Live Global Model of Business As Mission
Our three-part Business As Mission methodology consists of “Plant, Grow, & Do.” These stages represent our various programming, but also the business stages of national entrepreneurs. The Plant phase represents the beginning – education in a theology of work, Biblical lessons with practical application, and universal business principles; it is also the stage with the most direct work our team spends with national partners. We spend a large amount of time getting to know the culture and context wherein our educational programs will take place.
The BAM team’s focus is more balanced in the Grow phase. During this time, we shepherd North American coaches to mentor national entrepreneurs that are actively conducting business and build cross-cultural communication skills. We facilitate mutually edifying relationships that we pray grow beyond just business into true friendship, church support, and ministry involvement.
Our work on Doing is mostly focused on demonstrating the principles developed during Plant and Grow. At this time, the national business owner is putting the past two phases into action, equipped with the knowledge and confidence to expand a Godly business. As the business matures, there become more opportunities to extend influence beyond the immediate context, support more Plant educational initiatives, and bear fruit even into the unreached areas of our world.
Our ongoing educational efforts continue in Central America, including one-day Intro to Entrepreneurship Workshops, individual mentorships, and our new Business Accelerator Program in Belize.
