Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. (Psalm 2:8)
This verse comes to mind when you consider Faith and Socorro’s prayers for the lost in Thailand! Faith and Socorro are two single women, partnering in ministry together in Thailand. They focus on teaching English classes, which are a huge draw to many people from Thailand, Laos, and other countries who want to gain this valuable skill. They’ve found some creative ways to reach adults and kids for Christ.
They pray often for the people they come in contact with, especially the unbelievers who have shown an interest in the gospel. Here are three stories about how they’ve seen the Lord answer their prayers.
Father of English and Piano Student Accepts Christ
Noom is the father of two of Faith and Socorro’s English and piano students. Every time he picks up his kids from class, he has attended their evangelistic Bible study. And, he’s been given reading materials about Jesus. Recently, Noom and his two kids attended the ministry’s Life Camp and all three of them made professions of faith in Christ! Noom says that after he made the decision, he feels peace in his heart and as if a heavy load was lifted from his shoulders.
Getting Access to a Restricted Country
Laos, which shares a border with Thailand, is a country that currently does not allow foreign missionaries to come and share the gospel. But, God has been raising up national believers to do this work! Nit is a Laotian Christian, who normally lives in Thailand, but she’s able to go home and share the gospel among her own people whenever she wants. She has been able to take Bible study materials to use to share the good news with her friends and her mother!
VBS Brings in New Contacts and a New Brother
Faith and Socorro hosted an English Day Camp and VBS, which was attended by a couple dozen kids. Each of the kids heard the gospel, most of them for the first time. One of the boys made a profession of faith in Christ and now his parents are bringing him to church on Sundays. The Lord also gave Faith and Socorro some new contacts through this outreach.
