Outreach With a Music Academy?
Recently, the leaders of this work have been given an exciting new opportunity to purchase a music studio which would allow them to reach out to middle class families in their community. So far, the leader’s work has been focused on slum outreach and college students. Those in the middle class, like many areas of the world, have been the hardest to reach.
The goal of this studio would be two-fold:
- First, it would be an effective way to reach out to an un-reached group of people.
- Second, it would be a profit-making business that will help with the on-going work and give the workers a reason to continue in the country without having to constantly renew visas.
What outreach opportunities would the Studio would provide?
30+ individuals are currently learning from this academy; it can handle 150 comfortably. With 30+ students, the owners are operating at a loss, but the potential for growth is huge, especially in their locality. And these are families who have never heard the Truth of the Gospel!
There has not been any scope for performing recitals for parents and friends, but with the church centre nearby, we can host different recitals throughout the year, giving scope for building relationships with the community families even more. We could even do special performances for Christmas and Easter.
Some of the current teachers are from our church already, others from our church would be interested in teaching - providing a great natural platform from our church to influence the community.
Further, the facility is only partly used, allowing the potential of having a bakery or language center providing more opportunities in the community to participate in kid’s birthdays through cake and language learning!
Also, parents and kids could sit and wait in the small cafe as time for conversations or just building trust, or even take lessons at the same time.
