Learning about Ruth in Nepal
In God's kindness and grace, He provided a number of girls rescued from the Red Light District in India to have a unique opportunity they never would have dreamed of before they came to their rescue home.
The girls got an opportunity to go to a spiritual life conference in neighboring country, Nepal, and they even got to fly on an airplane to do it!
Different Countries, Similar Testimonies
A church in the United States sent several volunteers to conduct and lead a conference that was focused on the book of Ruth from the Bible. Nineteen girls and eight staff members from the Rescuing Children of Sex Workers homes got to go and learn valuable lessons about honor, community, resilience, grace, and legacy.
In fact, girls from other homes just like theirs in Nepal and India joined them for a time of fellowship at the resort where they stayed. It was sweet to see girls from different countries but with similar testimonies learn more about the Lord's grace to each of them in the same place. The five conference days were filled with fun and laughter. Girls were divided into different groups where they got to choose a group name and choose a leader from amongst themselves. The girls all made new friends, enjoyed singing worship songs, unleashed their creative talent through art and dance, and enjoyed the daily devotions from the book of Ruth.
One girl shared,
It was my first time visiting Nepal. I learned new activities and I got motivated to continue my education and painting. I liked the story of Ruth as she never gave up and did well in her life despite many struggles. I was encouraged by girls from other homes who were going to school. I made many new friends and want to thank all the aunties and uncles for this awesome adventure.
The girls and their leaders left refreshed and encouraged after hearing God's Word taught and applied during their time at the conference. Let's pray that this time in the Word together will continue to bear much fruit in the months to come.
Partnership in Action
This conference is an example of global partnership in action. The leaders of the Rescuing Children of Sex Workers project are already doing effective ministry in India through their rescue homes and rehabilitation programs but, on their own, they didn't have the resources to put on a conference like this for the girls.
That's why they invited their partners in America to come and do it. This church has people in it who love Jesus and desire to see the Gospel set people free across the globe. They also had the financial resources to produce a conference like this in Nepal. Together, the Rescuing Children of Sex Workers project and this church in North America make great Gospel partners.
Everyone has role to play in what God is doing across the globe. Let us help you find yours!
