“I Fell into Their Trap”—But God Delivered

With the goal of shaming Rahiv and making his church a spectacle, the community members designed a master plan to trap him.

By the grace of God, the Koinonia Church Network in Nepal has just planted one more church! But, as it sometimes happens in different areas throughout Nepal, opposition grew alongside it.

In His sovereignty, however, God used that opposition miraculously for His glory!

The Little Koinonia Church Begins to Grow

The Koinonia Church Network has a vision to plant 500 churches in Nepal by the year 2020. To do it, each existing Koinonia church has the goal of planting a certain number of additional churches in their area. So it’s a huge praise that this new Koinonia church is off the ground! A man named Rahiv is leading the charge.

Once it launched, the church began to grow steadily. But the surrounding community was not happy.

Rahiv told Live Global that the community members living near the church began to devise a plan against him.

Community Members Set a Trap

With the goal of shaming Rahiv and making his church a spectacle, the community members designed a master plan to trap him. They decided to appoint Rahiv as the chairman of a local school. Then, hoping he would accept, they would eventually accuse him of misusing the school’s funds.

And it worked.

Not yet knowing this scheme, Rahiv accepted the position as chairman of the local school. Rahiv said at first most of the teachers were very supportive, but as time went on, the teacher committee started to criticize his work. Some of the teachers even resigned from work to discriminate against him. And Rahiv said they did blame him for misusing the school’s funds, just like they had planned.

I feel into their trap.

But God Gets the Glory

O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. (Psalm 25:2–3)

Praise God for His unfailing Word and His promise to protect those who fear Him. Rahiv trusted in God in the midst of his circumstances and God delivered him.

After some of the teachers resigned, God provided new teachers to replace them—teachers who were even better than the ones they had before. And slowly, those who had believed the lie that Rahiv had misused the money began to realize he had not. Amazingly, Rahiv says has a good relationship with all of the teachers at the school now!

Slowly, I am evangelizing them from my life and I believe one day they will know the true God.
