Imagine living in a country where you don’t have the religious freedoms that you have in North America. Without the Bible readily available in your native language, you cannot just look something up if you have a question. Illiteracy adds to the challenges of finding the truth about faith.
Faith Surprises People
Born and raised in Nepal, Sajan describes opportunities created by Christmas. “Our national pastors were able to have a gathering and present salvation to all ages. The point that we receive forgiveness of sins by grace through faith in Jesus alone, not by good works, was definitely a point they hadn’t learned yet.”
“This concept is so hard for us to understand. We want to do something to show our worth, but Jesus doesn’t want us to do anything. We don’t get to heaven by just being good and doing good things. We get into heaven by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior.”
“He saves us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing and rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5)
New Concepts Sound Like Good News
Sajan and his wife Mary hosted a gathering so people could learn about the free gift of salvation. The concepts were new to those who listened.
“The national pastors were able to take the time to until it was understood. The repetition was really profitable, as after all the others had left, 3 adult men plus our language teacher stayed to talk for some minutes with the pastor about salvation through faith in Jesus not by works!”
The Nepali leaders shared the powerful truth of faith instead of merit.
“They were stunned by its newness to them and were also amazed when the pastor told them clearly in their language that Jesus is God, not just merely a man.”
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38)
The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Pray for these workers out in the harvest field of faith, telling others the good news.
