Over and over in his letters, the Apostle Paul called the believers in Christ SAINTS. In 1 Corinthians 1:2, Paul addressed them as “…saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ….” Here are just a few more.
- Colossians 1:2 – “To the saints…in Christ who are at Colossae”
- Ephesians 1:1 – “To the saints who are at Ephesus”
- Philippians 1:1 – “To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi”
A Chief follows Jesus
By the grace and mercy of God, another name can now be counted among the saints in Christ. Not one from Colossae or Ephesus or Phillippi, but from Togo, West Africa. Pastor Joseph Akakpo shared this brand-new saint’s testimony.
“The Church is not the building but the Saints. Although Satan has closed our local church doors, evangelizing lost souls is not closed and we will not close our mouths. Yesterday the head chief of the Agotime people, Togbui, accepted Christ as his personal Savior. That is a soul who is won for the glory of God.”

Togbui now faces the challenge of denouncing his position as the chief of his village. Pastor Joseph knows from first-hand experience that this will not be an easy task for Togbui as a newborn baby in Christ. The pastor was himself a chief who became a saint when he placed his faith and trust in Christ for salvation. He knows what Togbui needs—
“He will be coming to my village to stay in our house for counseling and Bible studies with me and other pastors. He might be here a while as we go through the beginner’s lessons with him and pray with him. He cannot go to church due to closures, and it is urgent that he is discipled. Please pray that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God will speak to Togbui so he will have strong convictions before he goes back to his village.”
Will you please pray for Pastor Joseph as he encourages and spiritually nurtures Togbui? Also pray for Togbui as he grows in his walk, not as a chief, but as a saint in Christ Jesus.
