Building Relationships Through Food Relief

Biak and Esther used this money to buy rice, oil, and salt, plus print Ancient Path Gospel booklets. They distributed the supplies to 500 needy families.

Like many others, Biak and Esther, their kids, and the children at their orphanage in Myanmar have had to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic. They had to postpone their plan to begin teaching children at an outreach location by at least four months, and maybe longer.

But, God opened more doors in his sovereignty to allow Biak and Esther to build more local relationships that will, we pray, lead to much spiritual fruit.

Partnership in Action

Through partnership with North Americans through Live Global, Biak and Esther were able to get $1,500 to use for food distribution relief in their city—an amount well beyond their own means. Normally, they don’t do much of this type of work because they try to empower people more strategically. But when day laborers lost their jobs, the needs became urgent and the means became impossible.

So, Biak and Esther used this money to buy rice, oil, and salt, plus print Ancient Path Gospel booklets. They distributed the supplies and gave the Gospel to 500 needy Burmese families in their city. By God’s grace, they saw a willingness to hear the Good News and were even able to begin holding small gatherings of children to teach the Bible.

Prepping and Praying for Preschoolers

Biak and Esther have a vision to begin a preschool at an outreach location. Esther even has the official government certification to teach. So, during the times when Biak got to be home more with the kids and at the orphanage, Esther took some time to prep coloring pictures and lessons for the preschool classes when they are able to begin teaching. Praise God for his unique provision of time.

Ways to Pray

Biak and Esther asked for these specific five prayers:

  1. Continued protection and health as they travel by motorcycle, even with two kids!
  2. To be able to start teaching classes for street children
  3. That God would enable their follow up with those who received food distribution relief and the Gospel
  4. For the new families to become believers in Jesus Christ
  5. Urgent – to get a plot of land with a house during this monsoon season (properties cost less during this time)
