About the Ministry
Pastor Javier and his wife Cecilia have been faithful Christ followers in Manta, Ecuador for 20 years as members of Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Manta. After serving for several years on the church’s ministry leadership team, Javier began preaching regularly in 2018 and was ordained an elder-pastor by the church in 2022. Both Javier and Cecilia are gifted Bible teachers and invest themselves in making disciples and training church leaders.
Javier and Cecilia are committed to training servant-leaders for all areas of ministry and missions. Your partnership will assist them in preparing children’s and youth ministry workers, women’s ministry leaders, disciple-makers, future church planters, and Bible teachers and preachers. You’ll be supporting children’s and youth camps, Vacation Bible School, and after-school ministries in Manta as well.
Ministry Focuses
Meet the Pastor: Javier
During the first five years of our marriage, we faced many serious challenges and were headed toward divorce. In 2006, we made the decision to place our lives in the Lord’s hands, and through Jesus Christ our Savior, we received salvation. He gave us new life and restored our marriage. Soon after, we began attending Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Manta, and in September 2007, my wife and I were both baptized. As we grew in our faith, we began using our gifts and talents in the Lord’s work under the guidance of missionaries Tony and Joy.
Over nearly 20 years as believers, my wife and I have faithfully served in ministry. We began by teaching Sunday School and later served as leaders in a village outside of Manta called La Travesía, where we taught both children and adults for several years. During this time, we also studied at our church’s Bible institute, Escuela de Liderazgo Bíblico, which greatly deepened our understanding of God’s Word.
From 2018 to 2021, I served as part of the church’s pastoral team. During those years, our entire leadership team studied theology at Seminario Bautista Confesional in Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador, under the leadership of Pastor Jorge. On November 13, 2022, I was ordained as the official pastor of Iglesia Bíblica Bautista de Manta, with the affirmation of the entire congregation.
