About the Ministry
Diego Araújo says, “My aim in undertaking a PhD program is intrinsically related to my passion for, and my call to serve, the Kingdom of God in Brazil. I hope I will be able to make a small contribution to Brazil by somehow reducing the current disparity between the dramatic increase of evangelicals in the country (now estimated in over 50 million) and the limited number of qualified spiritual leaders.”
Diego seeks to write, preach, teach, encourage, and train pastors and potential scholars so that more Brazilians will publish Christian literature and theological books from the context of their large and diverse country. Since August 2021, he serves on the faculty team at Seminário Teológico Cristão Evangélico do Brasil (SETECEB). The seminary shares Diego’s vision for theological training, missions, strengthening local churches, and equipping future pastors. The seminary provides 20% of his support, while Diego is responsible for fundraising the rest.
In addition to this work, Diego has a connection to Tyndale House (a Christian community dedicated to researching the primary evidence relevant to the study of the Bible), and they envision working together in the future to invest in Brazilian seminary students.
Diego has recently married Ana Paula Nunes. Ana is an advertising professional and writer. She develops a burgeoning ministry on Social Networks (@Sherlocka_Holmes) with podcasts and videos on Christian life and theology. Her ministry is primarily focused on Christian women. She is a frequent speaker at women’s conferences around the country. Even as a newly-married couple, we have already been invited to speak together at different conferences and churches. We’re very excited with the doors the Lord has opened for us to minister together. It’s been amazing to see how God has enriched both our ministries through our getting married.

Meet the Pastor: Diego Araújo
Diego Araújo was born and raised in Northeast Brazil. He’s an ordained pastor of the Union of the Evangelical Congregational Churches of Brazil since 2007. After graduation, Diego served as a preaching and training pastor of a church of 500, with three church plants in addition. Diego also was involved in other aspects of ministry like counseling and visitation, and said he considers it a privilege to have been able to spend the first years of ministry alongside an experienced pastor in whom he found support, friendship, and discipleship.
In 2014, Diego resigned from the pastorate in order to pursue his doctorate from the London School of Theology, earning her PhD in Biblical Studies in July 2021 writing a thesis on Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Diego speaks Portuguese and English fluently.
