We had an opportunity to go to a public school to share a christian magazine with Psalms and portions of the Gospel of John.
About the Ministry
The Ramirez family works to give Gospel hope to people in Nicaragua. They use sports, art, ESL classes, and kids outreaches like VBS to reach communities that have been traditionally closed to hearing the Good News.
Alvaro said, “VBS is what placed God’s ministry in the community we live. We were able to get into households that were closed to the Gospel. A local Christian in the area told us that no evangelical could get to a certain home. They were always asked to leave. But when we went, not because of who we are, but rather Who we represent, that family wanted to talk to us. They told us about their problems, their children approached us and wanted to also tell us about their school and their friends. I don’t know you, but I think God is on to something here.”
Through the efforts of this family and those that serve alongside them, they’ve been able to begin small group Bible studies, Sunday school, and prayer meetings to help people in their community learn the truth about Christ.
Ministry Focuses
Meet the Leader: Alvaro Ramirez

Alvaro grew up in a humble family in Nicaragua, but he was blessed to hear the Gospel at a young age and came to faith in Christ at age nine. Times were hard in Nicaragua though, and he remembers one night when his family had literally nothing to eat. His mother encouraged him to pray, and after he did, someone came to the door and offered to hire Alvaro for the day. They had meat to eat for dinner that night! Alvaro says that miracles like this helped shape his faith.
Alvaro graduated college in Nicaragua but also spent 16 years in the United States observing ministry. Then he moved back to Nicaragua with the aim to adapt what he learned to the Nicaraguan cultural context so that he could bring the Gospel to his own people. Alvaro is married to Erica and they have three kids.

Leveraging American Business for the Gospel in Nicaragua
I'm thankful to be leveraging the American business world for the good of the Gospel. It energizes me to see young minds being equipped.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).
