About the Ministry

In Nepal, many families celebrate when they give birth to a girl because it means when the girl turns 9, they can make a profit by selling her or involving her in the sex trade. Poverty is rampant in Nepal and education is minimal. And the majority religions of the country offer no hope.

That’s why New Hope Nepal reaches into communities of the vulnerable, poor, and needy, giving them hope to look beyond a worldly, materialistic livelihood. New Hope Nepal operates in several avenues to reach these communities for Christ, anti human trafficking efforts being the primary way.

The organization is involved in rescues, rehabilitation, training, spiritual and physical help, plus a multitude of preventative programs to save souls physically and spiritually.

In addition to anti human trafficking efforts, New Hope Nepal works in prisons, slavery communities, education ministry, food and clothing relief, health camps, and in micro finance efforts, all with the primary goal and focus being to communicate the Gospel clearly to everyone so that many may call on the name of the Lord Jesus for salvation.

Meet the Pastor: Bair (pseudonym)

Pastor Bair grew up in a higher caste, in the context of Nepali Hindu cast system societies. Bair’s father was the leader of the whole village, built a big temple for idol worship, and served as a priest. So when Bair helped in his dad’s temple as a child, one of his duties was to provide the idols food and milk each day. Then the next day, he’d have to clean up the previous day’s food and give them fresh provisions. Bair says of this job now, “I was tired of such work because I never heard the idols speaking to me or eating any food.” Bair realized what they were doing offered no peace or happiness.

When Bair finished high school, he left the country for work and earned a good living. During his business he had an opportunity to meet a Christian and asked him many questions about creation, the Bible, and Jesus. Bair went to church, read the Bible, and spoke with a church pastor. After three months of Bible study, he decided to follow Jesus.

Of course, Bair’s family did not accept this decision and made him choose between a relationship with the family and Jesus. Bair was encouraged by Isaiah 41:10 in making his decision, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Since his baptism, Bair has been on missions trips throughout the country, earned his Master’s Degree in biblical studies, married his wife who shares his passion for the poor and victimized of his country, and had two kids. Most recently, they began New Hope Nepal together with the vision of sharing God’s love to the broken and hurting.
