  • Community impact with a missionary purpose
  • Infrastructure development that supports and strengthens the fulfillment of the church’s mission

Meet the Leaders: Yunsiel & Dayana

Yusniel is the pastor of Gerizim Baptist Church in the Caribbean. He has been happily married to Dayana for seven years, and they do not yet have children.

Yusniel came to faith in Christ at the age of 15 while growing up in a family shaped by idolatry and communism. He remains the only Christian in his immediate family. Although it was initially difficult for both him and his family to accept his new faith, over time they have come to respect and take pride in his calling as a pastor.

At age 18, Yusniel began serving as a missionary. At 27, he enrolled at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Caribbean, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology. He later completed a master’s degree in theological studies through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina.

Following his seminary training, Yusniel was commissioned to serve the community of Capiro, where he ministered for two years and eight months. Since March 4, 2020, he has been serving in the community of Alto Songo, which has a population of approximately 10,000 people, providing significant opportunity for gospel outreach.

Gerizim Baptist Church currently has 85 members, with approximately 150 people attending Sunday services. The church has 122 years of history in the community and is one of the first evangelical churches in their country. Despite its long legacy, the church’s community impact has at times been limited due to instability in pastoral leadership over the years and the absence of a sustained, unifying vision to guide its development.
