"He Put a New Song in My Mouth"

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:3)
For the past eight years, Kolkata Christian Fellowship in East India has had the joy of journeying with over 200 survivors of sex trafficking and children from vulnerable backgrounds. What started as an outreach became a weekly worship service called Freedom Church. Today about 70 children are a part of it as well.
Communicating the Message of Hope
For the past several years, the leaders of this church bring the message of hope in a way that is simple and relevant to these boys and girls. They communicate the teachings of the Bible through object lessons which include visual aids, activities, and videos. And they pray.
It's so encouraging to see the kids show interest and passion toward what the Bible teaches. They learn Proverbs, the Gospels, "I Am" sayings, and the character of God. A few of the kids have surrendered their lives to God and have committed to live for Him for the rest of their lives.
When It's Not Easy to Sing
But for some of these kids, it's not easy to sing. It's not easy to praise God when hurt and brokenness cripple their lives.
Over time, many of the children at the Freedom Church have courageously decided to overcome their traumatic experiences and become channels of hope and encouragement. They are eager and enthusiastic to use their God-given gifts to bless others and glorify God. The leaders at Freedom Church have encouraged many of the kids to join the worship team each Sunday. What a joy it is to see kids who were once too scared and shy to stand before others now standing and singing because of the freedom they have experienced in Christ.
A New Song of Praise
God has truly put a new song of praise in their mouths. Let's pray that God will continue to give new life in Christ and a new song of praise to many more victims of the sex trafficking industry in India.
