From Vision 2020 to Vision 2025
The Koinonia Church Network aimed to plant 500 churches by the year 2020. By God's grace, they planted 120 churches, plus began 360 small groups in Nepal. If you count the churches and groups, they nearly achieved their 2020 vision!
Strategy for the Next Five Years
The Vision 2020 strategy was that each existing Koinonia church would identify mission point locations where they wished to see a church planted. From there, the existing Koinonia church would ask and train leaders and send them to the mission point weekly to build relationships and begin a small group Bible study. Once that small group reached 20 new believers, it became a church.
Now that 2020 has passed, Koinonia has identified a new goal called Vision 2025, which is to prayerfully see each of the 360 small groups become its own church. To do this, they are training 80 new self-sustaining church planters to join the first 40 who are already on the field. In God's kindness, He allowed them to hold two days of in-person training before the country shifted to lockdown position again due to another wave of COVID-19.
Uncertainty in Lockdown
While the first wave of COVID-19 in Nepal during 2020 caused hardship for many, the second wave of COVID-19 seems to be worse. The hospitals are full of patients. Many people are camping out on the hotpital grounds just in case. Hospitals have oxygen shortages and people are dying because of it. Cemeteries are full of dead bodies. Only essential workplaces are open for businesses. The government is asking citizens to stay at home for 24 days as cases raidly rise. Everyone is living in uncertainty. Koinonia has churches open to help people in need. They are especially working to buy food for people who are struggling.
