Woeful Tooth Extraction Leads to God Glorified
In Rhyne Park, Jamaica, Christians have been deliberately building bridges for the gospel through relationships with hurting people.
One such relationship has been with Jermaine, who they met through his sister. One of the members at Rhyne Park Community Church simply offered Jermaine's sister a ride to work one morning. And she just began sharing her struggles.
One struggle had to do with Jermaine who needed urgent attention for a tooth extraction that went woefully wrong. It left him with a rare form of cancer that disfigured his facial features, as seen in the photo.
Here's what Pastor Devon of Rhyne Park Community Church said they did in response:
We met with Jeremaine and his sister and simply offered what we had—Jesus. We prayed that God would miraculously provide the media attention needed to prompt proper medical assessment through public awareness. This God did.
In less than a week, the church was called by a major media house and I was interviewed via telephone, which further resulted in a half page advertisement/story in one of our leading weekly papers.
By God's mercy, Jermaine's tooth extraction story was heard, a gofundme account was established by other concerned people, funds were raised, and a hospital in the US said they could fix Jermaine's situation.
The prime minister of Jamaica got involved and Jermaine received a US Visa and has since had a successful surgery.
This is the kind of impact through love, community involvement, and crucial conversations that we want to experience on a daily basis, all for His glory.
We believe and are driven by these life-changing realities and possibilities.
