Home Church Celebrates Growth

Home church celebrates

Our Christ-following Jamaican national partners have a huge desire to see their community come to Christ. And from there, they desire to see more Jamaican nationals raised up to evangelize the lost in their country. Our national partners Pastor Devon and his family picked a church-planting and outreach strategy to reach the 4,000 people in their area.

Pastor Devon and his family started a home church and have been doing outreaches and building relationships to grow it ever since. Here are just a few things God has done within this small body of believers recently:

  • Two people—a husband and wife—were baptized into God’s Kingdom.
  • Five church members attended a training conference in the U.S. about church planting and discipleship as they seek to double the church’s size next year.
  • Six new people have been added to the church’s membership.
  • The church continued a VBS ministry in partnership with another church this summer as a way to minister to families in the community.

Join us in thanking God for His faithfulness to Pastor Devon, his family, and the whole church.

The five conference attendees get excited about what God might do through their home church.

Home church and community outreach is an effective combination for reaching the lost in Jamaica. Pastor Devon started a church plant in Jamaica in late 2014. Currently, they are meeting in a home and have the goal of making devoted followers of Christ in their middle-class community of almost 4,000 people.

The church is always on the lookout for ways to serve in the neighborhood. They are caring for a community soccer field as a way of reaching out to the teens and adult men who play there. They are also embarking on a building project to erect a bus and taxi shelter in the community for people who have to use public transportation.

Their mission is to establish crucial contacts, to do loving and gracious evangelistic outreach, and to build bridges to the people in Jamaica.
