The Vision for a Mobile School

vision for a mobile school

The past several months have continued to hold political uncertainty and instability for the country of Myanmar following the military coup last February. Most of the children who normally live at Grace Home continue to live with relatives in safety, but the ministry of Biak and Esther continues as they reach out to the children living in the slum areas- despite the increasing spread of the coronavirus.

Current Accommodations Are Dirt and Aluminum

There are currently three centers where teachers have been able to provide an education to children in need. Each educational center has anywhere between fifty to one hundred children ready to be enrolled, but only twenty to thirty children are currently being reached because of limitations to transportation, materials, and manpower.

School at one location is currently being held at this location, on loan for the use of teaching the children out of the sun and rain.

Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam are the main religions in these regions. Education has been effective at reaching these families with the hope of Jesus, but there is a desperate need for an effective and consistent way to be able to carry on.

The Vision for a Mobile School

Biak and Esther were originally praying for God to provide a piece of land to build a school on; but have discovered logistically that a mobile school unit would be more beneficial, allowing their team to not only travel safely while transporting needed supplies, but to reach children in a wider area as well. Once funds are raised to purchase a vehicle, they will begin making adjustments to make it into a mobile school.

Our God is mighty, and He is able to provide the funding to meet this need in order to reach the children of Myanmar and their families with the eternal hope of the Gospel.

Prayer Requests

  1. For God to bring peace and stability back to the country of Myanmar
  2. For Christians like Biak and Esther to continue to persevere in ministry through difficult sociopolitical issues
  3. For health and safety for Biak and Esther, from COVID-19 and other external threats
  4. For God to provide the funding necessary to purchase and outfit a mobile school unit for the slum ministry.
*To protect the security and identity of the individuals serving in this context, we have changed their names online and in some cases use photos that are representative.

Biak and Esther have started this ministry to give kids a safe place to live, learn, grow, and (most importantly) hear about God's love as a Father.
