Sahar’s Story of a Softened Heart in the Middle Eastern Desert

Abraham and Deborah work among the Bedouin People in their surrounding Middle Eastern community. Obviously, this is hard and often discouraging work. But God is faithful to bless their efforts. Today, Deborah shares a beautiful story of Sahar’s softened heart in the Middle East.

After a Sunday evening meeting, my husband Abraham preached about the importance of not walking alone, especially in our struggles, and emphasized the need to have the courage to ask others for help in our journey with God.

After the meeting ended, Sahar came to me and said, “Deborah, I feel I need help. I want to grow closer to God and become like you. When I hear you pray for us at the women’s meetings, I feel deep peace and joy inside. I want to be like you and learn how to pray. Can you help me?”

I replied, my heart overflowing with joy, “Of course! And you should know that God doesn’t expect eloquent words from you. All He wants is your heart and He will teach you how to pray.”

From there, we began teaching her how to read the Bible and soon her spiritual hunger also touched her daughter who came to me with the same longings as her mother.

Please pray for Sahar and her daughter – that the Lord would protect them from any spiritual opposition, and that the enemy would not hinder their growth. Pray also that the Word of God would go deep into their hearts and cause them to cling to Him with all they have.

Abraham and Deborah spend their lives reaching the Bedouin People with the hope and prayer for more stories of a softened heart in the Middle East like Sahar. Right now, Abraham and Deborah are waiting for more monthly financial donors so that they can continue this important gospel work without interruption. Would you pray about joining their team?
