Bible Literature Library: How Sosi Met Christ

Bible literature library

Friendship Ministries in Bangladesh has used some creative methods to reach people in the land they live in. Pastor Salim, the founder of Friendship Ministries, is a dedicated evangelist who has found all kinds of unique ways to share the gospel with his people.

One way Friendship Ministries still reaches people today is through their Bible Literature Library. They have these libraries (all of them are mobile; one of them is even on a boat!) that they take from place to place, hoping to meet people who are interested in learning about Christ.

One such interaction at the library was what God used to introduce a man named Sosi to Pastor Salim and ultimately the gospel. Sosi shared his testimony with Live Global; his words are below.

Life Before Accepting Jesus Christ

My former life was exceedingly bad.

I heard about Jesus from many pastors, but did not believe in Him. I always told lies. An evil spirit of pride was constantly at work in me. I lived under the control of the desires of my sin-nature. I did not regard what other people said.

One day I was very troubled by fever; at that time my grandmother came to pray, and I said, “Prayer isn’t necessary; I will get well from medicine.” I was worthy of punishment from God.

But one day I went with my mother to a spiritual revival meeting. There I heard a preacher preach about Zaccheus and give his testimony. From that time, by God's grace, I became eager to know about Jesus. But no one whom I talked with about Jesus wanted to give me any time.

Meeting Pastor Salim at the Bible Literature Library

So one day I went to the Bible Literature Library. And that's where things changed. There I met Pastor Salim and he talked with me. Through our relationship I learned about Creation, the Fall, Abraham, Christ, the Resurrection, and how Jesus was the way to get deliverance from sin.

I learned that I am a sinner deserving punishment. Even though Jesus was sinless, He bore the whole burden of our sin on the cross. Confessing my sin to Him, I was changed and received salvation. I was born again.

Discipleship with Pastor Salim

Pastor Salim and I began to meet together every day. I began to read books from the Bible Literature Library. Pastor Salim gave me Scripture to memorize.

I realized that Jesus had given His life on the cross for a sinner like me. Without being conscious of it, I gave Jesus a place in my heart. I cried for a long time. I kept praying that I would be able to stay in the Lord. He heard my call. The next day I told Pastor Salim, “I believe in Jesus because He died for my sin; He was buried for me and on the third day He became alive from death.”

At that time I decided that I would publicly acknowledge Jesus Christ. I told my family openly, and then opposition came from my family. I prayed much that night and decided I would confess my faith to all the believers in the church. So on July 21, 2015, at 10:15 AM, I openly acknowledged my faith through baptism in front of all the believers at the church.

Life After Accepting Jesus Christ

Through John 3:13-17, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 Peter 1:23-24, John 1: 13, and Romans 10:9-10 I gained assurance in my life that I had received eternal life (John 11 25-26). I have seen the fruit of the Holy Spirit in my life, in accordance with Galatians 5:22.-23. Now I have left my old self and am living my life as a servant of Christ.  Please pray for me, that I may live a faithful life in the Lord.

Immanuel Amen!
