God Uses Blindness to Bring Sight

Every 10 kilometers, police searched Bijaya’s car at the checkpoints. He was answering a call for help for those facing physical and spiritual blindness. At one stop, the station head got into the car behind the driver’s seat. Portions of the Gospel and copies of Bible literature filled the bag just in front of the officer.
“But the Lord kept him from seeing those literature and saved us from the huge problem.” Bijaya was taking the precious resources to remote church leaders. “It was a miracle nowadays for us to be able to carry hundreds of pieces of literature through many police checkpoints. We praise the Lord for his mighty hand upon us as we obeyed Him.”
Sometimes, God uses blindness so the Gospel can be seen.
Helping the Physically Blind
Bijaya finally reached his destination where he answered a call for help. Walking from the church for about ten minutes toward the river, he reached the school. One of the teachers of disabled students there knows what it is to overcome hardships, because he is blind. The needs of the students led him to ask the church for help. Bijaya answered the request.
“It was a perfect time to give them the best gift of the glorious Gospel, along with new and warm blankets, one for every student,” Bijaya says.
Even the blind teacher received a warm blanket, a treasure in the cold temperatures of the high mountains of South Asia. “I preached the clear Gospel message inside the public school … and gave out 21 warm blankets. Actually, it was a miracle that I could buy those in the Saturday evening, just before we left next Sunday early morning. The pastor of the local church had called me that Saturday morning and the Lord provided the blankets. May the Lord bless many more fold for those who gave for the blankets.”
Not only did Bijaya deliver warm blankets for those without eyesight, but he brought reading glasses for elderly eyes. “Those glasses were left over from our medical camps from the past. That gave us a great opportunity to preach the Gospel to many new souls in the area. Many elderly came and heard the Gospel, and they were blessed with a pair of new reading glasses.”

Needs for warmth and sight create opportunities to show the love of Christ and share the Gospel.
Help for Spiritual Blindness
With this compassionate introduction, Bijaya spent a whole day teaching a gathering of people from five small churches. The pastors said they were so blessed by the teaching and, “They had never heard such teaching even unto the midnight, around the wood stove in the kitchen.” The church leaders asked Bijaya to return, at least once a year. No one from the outside visits these isolated fellowships, and they’ve never had a Bible teaching conference before.
For five hours, Bijaya taught the pastors of the five churches, answering their many questions. God helped him use the Bible to give them answers. With gifts from North American churches, Bijaya left expository preaching resources for the pastors. He even gave a Bible to a brother who never owned one before.
Bijaya takes the Gospel into the high mountains, so remote that few outsiders have gone there before. So sensitive, that few outsiders can go there now. With his understanding of his culture and his heart language ability, Bijaya looks forward to helping people see God's truth.

- Pray for Bijaya as he continues to teach God’s word to pastors in remote villages.
- Ask God to blind the eyes of officials who might confiscate Gospel literature.
- Pray for the physically blind to hear the Gospel from those who received God’s Word.
- Ask God to give understanding to those who are spiritually blind.
