Physical and Spiritual Relief in Rural Areas

Serving Servants
Pastor Pablo “Abel’ Solano serves a growing church in Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua. He and his wife also serve the pastors and their families in rural areas of the country. Their ministry of encouragement and rural relief includes providing needed supplies, counsel, and training.
Visiting a New Rural Area
Pastor Abel recently visited a rural area where hurricanes had ravaged the isolated communities. As always, he enlisted the aid of a couple of other pastors.
They loaded a pick-up with food and other supplies and drove into the hills. When they reached a village, they traded the truck for horses. They had to ride where the trails were not made for vehicles. Along the way they saw evidence of the devastation that two hurricanes had caused.

A missionary friend named “Hazel” had already been serving in the area. She has built relationships and learned about the community’s needs.
Pastor Abel said, “Hazel has done a great job. The people in the community see her as one of the family. They take care of her and love her very much. She has won the hearts of these people.”
Sharing Relief Supplies and Good News
The pastors shared the food and hygiene products that they had carried. They also shared the Good News of Jesus Christ. The people they visited responded with grateful hospitality and open hearts.

“There is a great opportunity to preach the Gospel here in new fields. They are very open and ready to listen. We also see the great need that exists because of the extreme poverty.”
Pastor Abel wants to return to these small communities to start churches. You can assist him by praying for fruitful ministry. You can give to help buy relief supplies and to provide training opportunities for rural pastors.
