A Wheelchair Brings Encouragement

Pastor Mendoza’s wife had died suddenly in the countryside of Nicaragua. Live Global partners Abel Solano and his wife Niki went to visit Pastor Mendoza and his family to pray with them and to give comfort. While they were there, they noticed that Pastor Mendoza’s elderly mother-in-law had a very worn-out wheelchair that no longer rolled properly. They began to pray for a replacement. It wasn’t long before God supplied the need. When Abel and Niki delivered the new wheelchair, the pastor and his mother-in-law wept for joy and gratitude!
“I’ve been praying for a new chair,” the dear woman cried.
“Well,” said Niki, “the Lord heard your prayer and sent you a new one!”
Pastoral Training Brings Encouragement

Pastor Solano provides training opportunities to Nicaraguan pastors who don’t have much access to formal study. This year, with the help of First Baptist Church of Friendsville, TN, he organized and held two conferences for pastors and church leaders. The training included a variety of subjects such as The Mission and Vision of the Church, The Pastor’s Devotional Life, and Pastoral Ethics. There was a time for prayer at the close of the conference for men who were responding to God’s call on their life for ministry: Raúl has stepped into the pulpit after his church’s pastor had died. Juan is starting a church in a new area, and Francisco is helping with two church plants. We join in prayer for these pastors and for all the pastors to be encouraged.

Bringing Encouragement to Christian Women
Niki had the privilege of teaching at a women’s conference in Chinandega where over 100 women attended. She works with some of the other pastors’ wives who help to organize women’s ministry and conferences. We’re thankful for faithful women who are reaching out to encourage Christian women in Nicaragua. Pray for a women’s leadership retreat in September and an area conference in November.
