Testimonies from the Middle East Ministry Internship

Although mainstream news stories from the Middle East are often dark, God has not forgotten His remnant there. The Lord is still on His throne and He is saving some from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation.

We have the privilege of watching Him work firsthand through the eyes of our national partners, Bubu and Bahiti, in the Middle East and North Africa. They lead an internship program for young people in the Middle East who desire to grow closer to Jesus personally and do full-time ministry in their region for His glory.

Here are stories from just three of this year’s interns. It’s incredible to hear how the Lord is raising up His servants in the Middle East.

A Plan to Reach the Youth

My name is Abir. I am 24 years old and a servant of God. I am in my final semester of college. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 15. Since that day, I’ve always been at peace knowing that the King of Kings is right beside me. I am a worship leader in my church and I very much enjoy singing and worshiping the Lord. God has blessed me tremendously with the opportunity of being apart of the training internship program. For me that was the first step into ministry. I want to equip future leaders from a young age. There is a need to reach youth and bring them into the churches. I want to spend this year of internship reaching out to youth through music programs, camps, Bible studies, and outreaches.

Driven by Passion to Succeed

My name is Emir. I am 24 years old. As a student in financing, I’m driven by my passion to succeed in life, but surely and only under Jesus’ guidance for me. When I was 15, I began to seriously walk with Jesus. Since then I’ve served in various churches. I feel honored to be apart of this internship and I want to use this precious time to serve my country, my people, and especially the youth. We are witnessing a lot of death here by car accidents, prostitution, and atheism in the youth here. Of course, I also feel responsible for the refugee population in my area. Lord willing, I plan on organizing many outreaches this year.

Teaching the Good News to All Backgrounds

My name is Chinar. I am 34 years old. I am married and I have a two-year-old daughter with a baby boy on the way. I am an engineer by training. The internship with Bubu and Bahiti is changing my life. During this year, I would like to spend time teaching the good news to people from all backgrounds. I have a special heart for the religious fighters and their families. My goal for this year is to plant a home church and make disciples.

About Discipling Believers

Bubu and Bahiti call and disciple North African believers in their twenties to become reliable leaders in their local churches. They live among the people, learn their language, become friends with the local leaders, and invite the teenagers of the local evangelical churches to evangelistic summer camps and discipleship winter camps.Even the most outgoing national Christian communities in North Africa were facing massive challenges to disciple and equip young grown-ups to become the leaders of the next generation church. In 2008, Bubu and Bahiti began a yearly, multi-lingual, nine-month training program for young potential church and mission leaders. Over the years many of their students have become full-time pastors, youth and worship leaders, and church planters in various countries in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
