God At Work Through the Chile Fire
There are still in our memories the sad and desperate faces of so many people around the country. To see a peasant or a lumberjack, defeated working men, is very discouraging and sad.
That's Patricio Oliva speaking. He leads the Adelphos Chilean Missions Agency. He and his team have been non-stop serving the needs of so many Chileans who lost everything in the wildfires that have been raging for several months. And they've seen God at work.
Right from the beginning, Adelphos saw the call and opportunity to provide relief and the gospel to those who are hurting. And they've been doing just that for weeks.
Giving Help to Hundreds
Patricio said that the Lord has allowed him and his team to give a great deal of help. They've helped more than 500 families with humanitarian aid and about 200 families with spiritual help.
They believe about 70 people have surrendered their lives to the Lord, trusting Jesus as their personal Savior. Praise God for this! God is at work.
Showing Comfort and Hope in Loss and Pain
Patricio and his team have made three different trips to the area most affected by the fires. They've had help from 30 volunteers from different churches. Patricio said it's been rewarding to be able to give comfort, hope, and courage.
Many people cried while we prayed with them or while receiving the humanitarian aid that we gave them. It was gratifying to strengthen something that every human being has—their dignity—the image of God that is in all of us, regardless of their position, their education, or even if they believe or do not believe in Him. To love them and show that even in loss and pain there is comfort and hope.
We serve a God who redeems. Here is a picture of the team holding a sign they've carried with them, with the intention of giving hope to everyone they meet.
