House of Light: Caring For Orphans
Without citizenship it is difficult if not impossible for the Akha to get a job. One of the only ways to get Thai citizenship is to complete a high school education, but there is no free education as of yet in Thailand. Most Akha children without families to care for them will be sold into the sex industry (the girls) and child labor (the boys).
House of Light was born out of a heart and passion to help the Akha children. When they come to the orphanage, they are able to go to school. Not only will they be able to have Thai citizenship here on earth, they can learn about the greatest hope of citizenship in heaven.
Currently, House of Light is home to 30 girls and 30 boys with 8 full-time staff who care for them. One of the main goals of these caregivers is to disciple these kids to love Jesus and serve Him by going to Bible school and becoming missionaries to their own people.
