COVID-19 Around the Globe

Asia Mountains

Citizens of a mountainous country in Asia are threatened with a 5-year jail sentence if they are found outside of their house for an impermissible reason. Our partners there are working creatively and digitally to continue to get the Gospel out, while praying for their friends and family to stay healthy and survive on their resources during the lockdown.

Croatia

Many people aren't working because of the virus. And in the midst of the turmoil caused by the pandemic, the capital city was also hit by a significant earthquake. Pray that God would bring good out of this suffering by calling many people to Himself through the faithful witness of Croatian believers.

Haiti

In response to the first two confirmed cases of COVID-19, Haitian officials closed most of the infrastructure including ports, airports, schools, businesses, factories, and churches. For our partners and their ministries there, including an orphanage, this is a difficult blow after the unrest that has been present for months prior to the pandemic.

Price increases have especially made orphan care difficult. For example, prices are 50% higher for milk, corn, and propane. There has been a 100% increase for oil and meat and a 220% increase for staples like rice and beans. Though all of this, wages have stayed the same. Despite the challenges, our partners are continuing ministry over the radio and online. Pray their efforts bear fruit during this difficult time.

India

All 1.2 billion people in India are under a lockdown that continues to get extended. With the population as high as it is, hospitals would be overwhelmed and unable to treat everyone if COVID-19 spread too quickly. Pray that God in his kindness would cause the virus to pass over India. Pray that many would come to know and love Jesus through the witness of Indian national believers apart of a church planting network in the country.

Myanmar

The virus has reached even a rural town in Myanmar. It's unknown how many people were infected before the first case was confirmed. Our partners there are praying that in the midst of people panic buying, the prices don't go up. Myanmar infrastructure is radically growing, but it's not yet ready to handle a large scale crisis like this one.

Spain

This country has been hit hard by the coronavirus. People are only allowed to leave their homes for approved reasons and only allowed to go to the hospital if they have severe symptoms. Our partners there are hearing of medical workers turning to Jesus as they take care of sick believers. And Christians are working to connect digitally every day with other believers to encourage one another in the Lord.

God is working across the globe through the challenges of the coronavirus. As we pray for God to save people through Jesus, let's remember Hebrews 12:1-3:

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.
